How to Eliminate Insects from Your Hummingbird Feeder

Keep ants out of your hummingbird feeder by coating their route to the nectar with petroleum jelly or by adding a water filled moat. Bee guards are small screens that fit over the feeding ports to prevent bees from getting nectar while allowing the hummingbird full access with their long bill. Whatever you do to keep insects away from your feeder do not use pesticides, they are harmful to the birds.
